There are photos on the Worth Valley Facebook page of 34092 piloting the 4F on a service train today.

There's a photo of her at Keighley on KWVR's Facebook page with stock. Looks like she's worked Haworth to Oxenhope double heading with the 4F on the last train, then done a loaded test run to Keighley and back after the end of service.

Must be almost exactly quarter of a century since that volcano erupted publicly. Great news.

I was at Mytholmes tunnel when '92 did her first test run first time round. Doubleheaded with the 0-6-0PT and in the dark. All seems such a very long time ago.

Southern West Country No.34092 'City of Wells' returns to passenger services on the glorious evening of the 25th July 2014 after piloting LMS 4F No.43924 on the final service train of the day from Haworth Loop to Oxenhope and then hauling a loaded test train for one round trip on the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway.

Fantastic news. I have cine film of her on the mainline at Tisbury on the LSW and West Wycombe on the "Chiltern Line", but she was withdrawn before I got my first video camera in 1990. Here's to a gentle period of running in and working through the snags followed by many years of reliable service.

I don't suppose she'll be going away from the KWVR for a while, but I know she'll be welcome to visit Ropley and the other Southern sheds in the future. I have a dream of seeing City of Wells, 92 Squadron, Wadebridge and Swanage in steam in Ropley yard the evening before a gala. Not entirely impossible....

Count me and the team in for that. Spam, spam, spam, spam - any chance of getting some Vikings to set the scene? :)

Any idea why the drain cocks were kept open so long?

Don't know for sure but possibly to help ensure that as much crap and debris that maybe in the boiler/steam circuit left over from the overhaul is blown through.

Thanks. I was hoping for some real Vikings rather that some film ones but it's a start. :)
