I've attached four B/W photo's of 34039 .Number one is leaving Rothley on its first official run after overhall ,10.00 Loughborough to Leicester on 21/11/1992. No 2 ,04/02/1996 .Three 07/11/1999.,and four ,with a mail train,10/10/1999.All between Rothley and Leicester. It seemed always to have a good blow from the front end ,no doubt caused by leaking glands from the outside admission piston valves.
I look very much to see her again in the near future.

I think that I've posted this once before but here is a view of her "on shed" with a fellow Southern exile - Shades of 70A, 29/12/95. 95-12-29 13 34039 35005 copy (2).jpg

The Boscastle Shed Tours took place, but were severely constrained, as there was on going decontamination work on Sir Lamiel. This meant that half the shed was "Out of bounds". Still we had a good number of visitors on both days.
The Boscastle Website has been updated with an "On Line" donations facility added which provides an easy way to help fundraising electronically. The BOS Club is steadily gaining members and they are receiving monthly updates via E mail Bulletins.
The tender braking system is steadily getting more parts added and is expected to be complete in the near future once a couple of major parts have been machined - the originals were among the parts stolen.

Work on the tender is continuing and a new Tender Brake crank lever is being CNC machined. This is a fairly complex item, being non symmetrical and requiring a slotted keyway. This is, needless to say, expensive, and it replaces a stolen item.
The Boscastle Club continues to attract new members who are receiving monthly updates via e mail bulletins. (Details on the Boscastle website).

As it is difficult to get a reasonable picture of the underside of Boscastle's tender here is a more unusual view - through the draw bar hole!

See the latest progress on the tender braking system by going on a Boscastle Shed Tour this weekend. They are free (but a donation towards the overhaul is appreciated) and take place at regular intervals from 10.30am to 4pm on both Sat and Sun. You also get to see the other locomotives in the shed 70013, 777, Tornado, etc.

Alongside Boscastle yesterday were two very nicely made and finished brake hanger brackets. Unfortunately I did not take a picture, but these are due to be fitted under the tender very soon to enable the braking linkage to be finished. I think these will replace the blue string pictured in a previous post!

Can it be dyed to a SR green and have a SR 5 digit number starting with a 3 please?

It has been on 34039 after all. :)

Bryan - me, a SR 1960s steam loco fanatic, what on earth gives anyone that idea? - B
