    I always thought the three rail arrangement was confined to the Galltymoelfre tramway, between the Allywllt and Cantrybedd inclines!

    Of course, the only reason that historically significant section remains derelict is no bu99er from the TR's Saes membership can pronounce either Galltymoelfre, or the names of the tramway's two end points! :)

    I'm guessing that Swindon drawing office practice was to start their designs on the left and work left to right - so they gave it a nice well-proportioned smokebox but ran out of space on the paper by time they got to the cab ... ;)
