Have spent this afternoon at the NRM. All looking good and ready for tomorrow.

No.49 was throwing out some clag at one point. Almost suffocated me on Sir B!

    Cromwell looks rather nice aswell...

If whoever filled up the bunker had any sense they might have used the worst of the stuff on the pile? It's not exactly going to make a lot of difference the work she'll be doing at York - it'll be like a holiday!

I have to say its the first time I have seen 49 in steam. Looks a nice loco. Shame about its positioning at the event IMO.

    Damn.

Didn't read this until I got back, You were destinct in the bowler!

A Good day, smaller than expected, but nice to be able to get close to the locos. Shame the roarer was apparently dumped in a corner though!

Spent about 5 hours there, managed a trip to Monk Barr after, which was a challenge avoiding the morris dancers!

Didn't seem overly busy, but was healthy, with the usual impatient bunch making a fuss as usual!

Well done all involved. Back in York on Monday but will be SSEing

Well one of the locos pictured was there in 1968, the others were laid up or derelict.

    Don't remember any Morris Dancers!

Seriously - is this display just a collection of locos, or does it actually have a grounding in the events and people of forty years ago?

industrial fetish will correct me here, but i'm sure 49 was at backworth in steam in 1968. and sir berkley was preserved, in steam ,and featuring in the railway children that year, while trangkil 4 hadn't been built yet.
