18000 'Kerosene Castle'

    For those who have an interest in 18000 there are a couple of interesting videos on YouTube.



    This will link to the first of two videos (2/2 being the second). These will have been taken in Switzerland either during test or transportation to the UK. There is at least one shot of the turbine working with the loco stationary, and one shot of the cab showing the large "steering wheel" which is actually the power controller. Most of the time the loco is probably running using power from its auxiliary diesel engine. I cannot be sure that other cab photos are 18000 or the pilot locomotive. People on the platforms certainly take an interest!

    Edit-The pilot locomotive is 1101, the earlier 1941 gas turbine locomotive for the Swiss Railways.
