‘7P’ in 2D – Royal Scot graffiti

    A piece of graffiti-style art in York has been created by the North Yorkshire Moors Railway to celebrate the imminent visit of Royal Scot to the line next month.

    The 3mx4m vinyl artwork, which is on display outside the York Art Gallery in Exhibition Square, has been created by London-based firm, Graffiti Life, and depicts the Stanier 4-6-0 arriving at Grosmont station on the NYMR.

    Laura Strangeway, NYMR Marketing Manager, said: “We are over the moon at how the artwork turned out and we want to say a huge thank you to everyone who came to see it.”

    Making its debut on the ‘Moors’, the arrival of No. 46100 Royal Scot to the railway heralds the start of the line’s 2017 season, and follows in the footsteps of Flying Scotsman’s successful stay at the Pickering-Grosmont line last year, which attracted an estimated 10,000 people.

    The locomotive will remain at the railway until April 2. It’s visit is part of the railway’s 50th anniversary celebrations of the formation of the NYMR Preservation Society, now the Charitable Trust.
