? between Saxilby and Gainsborough Lea Road? I don't think the running time there is 34 mins. It seems RTT doesn't necessarily show these stops if they are not at some place the system recognises. See discussion on the Fellsman, 29 May.

Cumbrian Mountain Express 18th May 2019 - A Timer's Tale Leander + 11 for the day. Jubilees are always interesting on the WCML, Settle and Carlisle, and the secondary route that includes Wilpshire Bank. Based on performance, Carnforth's own,...

Mad Hatter 11th May 2019 - A Day to Remember My first main line steam outing of 2019, (joined at York), and a decisive vote in favour of a tour offering the less-expected and less familiar rather than the customary sprints along principal main...

  6. sunstream liked Mike Wylie's post in the thread Saphos: The Lakelander - 18/05/19.

It took some planning but worth it. I'm in training and that was my first run on the five with a load but it helped knowing the road so well having been a 12D and 12A man for the last 20 years and good instruction sorted it. Seemed to go ok I...

A fellow passenger here. My brother and I treated ourselves to first class, partly because second was fully booked, but also, because the price was a steal. Totally agree with 30567. A superb day, brilliantly arranged, and with the need for two...

The Cumbrian Mountain Express 18 May 2019 – 45690 Leander hauling 10+POB It is a year ago since British India Line put on such a magnificent display on the CME and true to form I wasn’t on it. I was hoping for an “Anniversary Special”, or if...

Agreed, there's too much crammed into a small space, a traditionally shaped board with just Saphos Trains would be much more in keeping. Put that design as the emblem on the coaches maybe..

Am I the only one who thinks that the looks of this beautifully turned out train is spoiled by that horrible headboard? It is a very clever, and no doubt costly, design but it just does not fit on the front of a steam loco. Just my opinion. Peter

  13. sunstream liked Steamage's post in the thread VT Cotswold Explorer 18/05/19.

There's lots more to do in Oxford than some steam tour destinations, though it doesn't present its best face to the station. I recommend climbing one of the church towers for a view around the rooftops. Try St Michael-at-Northgate, at the north...
