I think D821 and D7029 (and D8568) moving further south was more to do with the location of the DTG people who maintained them - mostly based south of Birmingham - rather than a souring of the relationship. When they were first preserved around...

August 2026 Construction Update Smokebox: Visibly, not a lot has changed and it still looks the same as at this year’s Open Day. But in the background, we have now received five rolled plates from Barnshaws (who made the wrapper) consisting of...

Johnme101 liked Chailey Stowe's post in the thread Rother Valley Railway.
With the steam ban still in full affect across most railways, I decided to try something a little different and take a look at the latest developments regarding the extension. Was very good to see large amounts of work taking place in person,...

I wonder what the prospects are of a triple Malachite line up in the near future is? With s21C107 due to return next year, 21C123 having it's boiler worked on and 34081 due to go in for overhaul very soon it could end up being a possibility....

Johnme101 liked Rander's post in the thread 35025 Brocklebank Line.
Email has just gone out from MNLPS that sets out this is not their intention, though the boiler will be given high priority so that Clan Line can use it if necessary. I believe '25's boiler is in pretty good condition.

There is news about 35025, as SLL shareholders are being asked to approve the transfer of Brocklebank Line to the Merchant Navy Locomotive Preservation Society (they own and run "Clan Line"). As 35025 had fallen behind both Sidmouth and Sir...

In the Down Main section it says that negotiations with a main line operating company haven't begun yet for 34007, but the hope is that it'll be on the mainline by mid 2028, after spending 2027 running in on the MHR. The SLL feature says that...

New issue of Steam Railway has arrived today and has seemingly answered my question and the plans for it going mainline. According to them, the loco will carry it's 1948 transitional livery of Malachite Green with the number s21C107 on it's...

Like the vast majority of railways we have now resorted to diesel haulage. How long the locos will remain in the siding is anyone’s guess right now.
