Still plenty of different locations up there but the ones I want to do but most involve long walks, perhaps I should have done those 20 years ago!

I didn’t notice that and being a railway modeller too I usually look out for such details. While on the subject of accuracy both Galatea’s alternative identities are wrong, both Alberta and Sierra Leone were straight throatplate boilered engines...

Funny the details that some people notice and others don't. For me the give away that this isnt the real 76001 isnt the cab but the Southern lamp brackets on the smokebox door. I believe that this is because 76079 had its last overhaul down south...

For modellers and the pedantic it isn’t quite right for 76001 that had the earlier type of cab with full footplate longer footplate, no fallplate and handrail up to the cab roof in front of the tender. I don’t know about the Class 4s but their...

Nice picture there John. I was working there over that weekend and was the afternoon guard when the loco worked back to Mallaig that day, having turned during the lunch layover at F ort William. Here is the train standing in Lochailort station...

A nice thought but it doesn't really make sense. Note too that the WCR Jacobite website advertises "heritage Mk2 coaches". If I had a nice shiny rake of CDL fitted Mk1's then why would I send it to work with air brake fitted locos in Scotland...

76079 did go up to the WHL in 2008, renumbered as Fort William’s 76001 it took part in the photo charters. It wasn’t a lot of use on the Jacobite as it was restricted to hauling six coaches on the Mallaig Road [ATTACH]

Two lovely sequences, many thanks. I wasn't out for it today, but I was just over 65 years ago. 11 June 1961 as the last steam hauled Golden Arrow drifted downhill to Bromley South on a dull evening. 34100 'Appledore'. I took the photo with a...

I’m sure if you paid the NRM a couple of million quid they would consider it. The WCML is more appropriate for a Duchess
