Depends. I wouldn't be happy spending £4k riding around in Mk2E. With the Mk1 & ORR issue and lack of locos being available, RTC should really be asking customers for their opinion, but I doubt that has been done.

  4. JBTEvans liked NathanP's post in the thread Saphos 2024.

Saphos started sending out e-tickets this year. Last year was the final year they sent them in the post. This year they've also started text messages to phones as well. If they have your mobile number, you will get a text message around half an...

Not with UK Railtours or Pathfinder you don't, they seem to be firmly sticking to still posting out tickets. RTC went to emailed tickets some years ago.

And I had Saphos tickets sent in the post just last August so if they've stopped doing that it's a recent thing.

  7. JBTEvans replied to the thread Saphos 2024.

Well I had Saphos tickets sent in the post in 2020, 2021 and 2022 and have not used them since, hence my question. No need for that tone.

  9. JBTEvans liked acorb's post in the thread Strathspey Railway.

We are booked on the Strathspey this Sunday, according to the lady we had the last few seats for a light lunch, so looks like a promising start to the season. Membership renewal was indeed with the latest express magazine and promptly turned...

If they've applied for an exemption at 25mph max top speed, that's no different to the NYMR other than journey length.

However, it is an exemption that the NYMR trains to Whitby enjoy currently.

If that is the case, clearly the ORR are just dragging their weight with WCRC.

  14. JBTEvans liked Andy Williams's post in the thread Jacobite 2024.

I have heard that the current WCR application for a CDL exemption in respect of the Jacobite trains is based on operating the service at a 25 MPH maximum speed in order to take advantage of the current exemptions afforded to heritage railway...

I agree - I would be fully in favour of stricter enforcement of all existing road & traffic regulations. At present most drivers consider themselves ‘unlucky’ if they receive a penalty - symptomatic of an ineffective enforcement regime.
