  1. Dan Hill liked Cuckoo Line's post in the thread Bluebell Railway General Discussion.

I don't disagree , in the current climate acclass 33 is probably useful as a back up and for extremely dry spells but the ethos of a loco pulled steam train I suspect is what most punters look to on the Bluebell. Even better when the older stock...

Looking good. You don't fancy tackling 7027 next by any chance?;) Peter

Agreed, Maybe they could do Thornbury Castle as the next project.

  4. Dan Hill liked John Petley's post in the thread Loco 76017.

As 76017 vanishes into the WCRC depot at Southall, I hope that it won't be too long before she emerges to begin whatever her new life is to be. As an (armchair) MHR member, I'm naturally sad at the loss of a most useful loco especially given that...

  5. Dan Hill liked Steve's post in the thread Loco 76017.

I think we can all tell similar tales and no railway would be exempt from this fact. After paying transport costs to bring locos to the NYMR and finding that they weren't fit for traffic, the NYMR made the decision to examine any such locos...

Not in the best of health then? [emoji848] The rusty, paint peeling external state of the loco when it arrived didn't instil much confidence in the condition of the rest of it. Sent from my XQ-BT52 using Tapatalk

  7. Dan Hill liked Hampshire Unit's post in the thread Loco 76017.

Although no longer a Watercress Line resident, I think it is worth tipping one's hat to the restoration and maintenance staff and volunteers at Ropley. 76017 has successfully completed one substantial journey across Network rail metals without...

Either that or 41312 gets an unscheduled boiler wash out,

If that's the case then all that stored energy will probably catapult it beyond Ropley, and it'll end up on the Bluebell.:)

Depending on any change of wind, the IOWSR could find itself with a third Ivatt tank!

I checked at the weekend - as you suggest, they are awaiting cast number plates, so the current numbers are temporary. They are, though, correctly sign written - not vinyls! Tom

  13. Dan Hill liked Major Midget's post in the thread UKR Medway Pullman - 26/11/22.

The 47 was providing a fair deal of shove about 3/4 the way up Sole Street Bank from the sound of it, but might have eased off after that. Unfortunately the fencing erected on the bridge parapets played havock with my not great photography...

Nice captures - the Tulse Hill one reminds me of one of mine from years back. Wasn't that Maidstone West, though? The viaduct shot also shows what a huge difference in window layout there is between the two side of the support coach![ATTACH]
