Well, it did fall down while it was being built, so it's probably extra strong now :-)

Most cathederals have fallen down a fair bit, and it's never done them any harm...

Well, I guess it depends on the number of missing bricks and depths of cavities and what the LIDAR has found. And why the cracks are forming. Also your viaduct is getting on for 80 years newer, I wonder if that makes a difference

That's a shame. Perhaps we should have a British Heritage Transport Police (with Ford Anglias and 1950s uniforms...) to deal with ne'erdowells and ruffians on the preserved railways...

The statement of works that Noel linked to (about 10 pages back) talks about cracks and voids in the brickwork and use of resin-bonding to repair. (And re-waterproofing from the top as well as vegetation and ballast removal, and replacement of...

I would expect themto have more support underneath if providing any lifting force - following the line of the screw portion to the ground. Is the river navigable btw? Also, I'd not fancy liftting that bridge by hand, (for effort and H&S...

Has anyone looked at "Transport premises that are already subject to relevant existing legislative requirements to consider and mitigate threats." (I assume it's aimed at NR and British Transport Police matters. But assuming BTP have jurisdiction...

Also, why should it be most in need of support at that point? An arch thrusts outwards. It's thinnest there becuase it can be. Where the support will be needed depends very much on the mode of failure. It's interesting to note that that the pic...

I’m not sure what your source is for that comment? If it’s the photo above, then there is an arch of steel seen below the masonry, and I’d be surprised if there weren’t packers in there as well? [ATTACH]

Yes indeed. But it is perhaps the impression that the original poster gives of expecting the railway to provide a solution to a problem that they might not even have been contacted about that might diminish the tolerance otherwise afforded.

It’s not about being tolerant, David is complaining about the railway not having convenient parking for him, but doesn’t have any suggestions of a solution- that’s not fair on the kesr. I’m sure a phone call before travelling would have given...

I'd guess the continuous personal attacks "order of the boot", "verminous", etc etc. Why bother trying to engage?
