Yes, indeed a very good day at the Severn Valley today. I managed the equivalent of a round trip behind The Duke and very good it was too. It's a superb bit of kit and I really must do a mainline trip with it before long. Also got some mileage...

[ATTACH] Lovely day with trains running exceptionally to time (well once I arrived, had to come down from Manchester through the overhead electric chaos). Services seemed a bit lightly loaded outside of peak hours and the Duke's rake, but we'll...

We (or at least, I) don't know what is included in the quoted £250K. It may well include the hire of the scaffolding and propping until it is no longer required and not just the installation. If I was costing up the works, I'd have certainly...

Whilst waiting for the seaside express the competition came trundling through, heading for Crewe: [ATTACH] Then an hour or so later the pair of Type 3s returned. It seems they picked up a souvenir headboard from one of the seaside shops in...

It's still got the lower "main line" elliptical double chimney. Hopefully they'll paint it in BR green, rather than GWR livery, although if they've removed the smoke box door numberplate brackets, it does hint that GWR livery might be likely. I...

Great day on the railway yesterday, the vast majority of services were bang on time to the minute (if not early arriving!). Trains were well loaded and I think the railway deserves credit for basically making Thursday now a full day rather than...

7714 has had its old grate completely removed, a new grate fully rebuilt, and is back in steam. It will re-enter traffic this afternoon. A superb effort by ESMP and the Bridgnorth staff.
