It's clear to me that the SVR shouldn't have promoted the weekend. The whole idea of branch line trains is there's only a couple of people on them . That way the non-visiting public would be happy to know that the SVR faithfully recreated the...

You could follow up with a "derelict railways" weekend then an early preservation weekend and culminate in a "festival of complaining" where apparent enthusiast arrive to complain about the fact there are too many people/wrong colour of engines...

Good on the SVR for doing this - that kind of adjacent landowner maintenance issue has come up too often in RAIB reports.

Id like to run a goods, but I’m not sure how to fit it in just yet. I think we need to work a service pattern out that we know works and then go from there

Its not just fitting the CDLs, its whether 10A will come up with a solution that doesn't need a diesel on the rear to operate it. Hopefully they'll adopt a solution similar to Vintage Trains.

It's a bit like the festive services - not for everyone, but draws a general audience and helps find the "normal" train running.

Sorry to hear you taking a bit of flak here @2857Harry I like the insight into planning such an event. Inevitably you can't keep everybody happy. Don't let the haters bring you down.

I will just place on here a big thankyou to everyone who attended or operated the Branchline Weekend this weekend. I can categorically state it’s been a super weekend, and the only complaints is that it’s been too busy! I mean for a heritage...

It wasn’t a gala day! It was a Branchline Weekend at normal fares. Not a gala. As said above a 16:15 ex Bridgnorth has been identified which can be put in next year, but it relies on a 6th train and this year we were not given the budget to...
