    Hi Neil.

    4) Is ex-KESR No.26, later 29, which I believe was an RSH tank. It has now moved on to the GCR(N) at Ruddington, after years at Woolwich.

    5) Is KESR No.23 "Holman F Stephens" in Rolvenden yard.

    6) Is KESR No. 25 "Northiam", but taken at Loughborough on the GCR when she went there on loan.

    34) Is ex-KESR Manning Wardle "Arthur", now at the Middleton Railway, and renamed "Matthew Murray".

    35) Is an ex-KESR Manning Wardle. It is either "Rhyl" or "Dolobran". The problem is, neither had any identifying plates or marks when stored at Rolvenden, so hard to tell them apart! Anyway, she moved to Woolwich, and is now also at the GCR(N). I suspect it is Rhyl, because the rust where the nameplate would have been is shorter than the other one.

    36) Is the ex- KESR RSH Austerity 7086. It was known as "Rolvenden" when at the KESR, but after several moves, is now running as "Norman" at Embsay.

    37) I believe is ex-KESR Manning Wardle "Dolobran". See 35.

    43) Has cheered my day up no end. It is KESR no.23 "Holman F. Stephens" (minus nameplate) running just north of Rolvenden crossing. It is wonderful to see that pic in order to see the much missed Chris Mitchell driving her.

This was Stewarts & Lloyds no. 56, the first example of this RSH saddletank type sometimes known as the '56 class.

This picture is at Rolvenden, in the old loop opposite the platform where the K&ESR stategic reserve was stored during the 70s & early 80s. If it is Rhyl the loco in front of it (and also in picture no. 37) must be Dolobran. The boiler and frames behind belong to USA DS238 (30070) Wainright.

I'm pretty sure that 34 isn't taken at Middleton, although that's where the loco has been for a long time. My money is on it being taken at Rolvenden, KESR in the siding that used to be adjacent to the platform.
