Pay great attention to Chassis strengthening, If something like that got a boot full of throttle it would be cracked frames etc. all round.

Given that we have had "Deltics" and "Baby Deltics", this one's behaviour would probably merit something along the lines of "Adolescent Deltic"...

Do you think you could pull a wheelie in it?

Have had a word with the Napier Police and they view all this talk of putting one of their fine power plants in the pile of rubbish that is a Pacer as heresy so expect a visit from the Inquistion forthwith.

I took the staff on a day out yesterday (Pensioners special offer, S&C). Northern rail is infested with the damn Pacer things, I'm sure they're breeding.:rolleyes1:

    From the web site,
"The Pacer railbuses represent a dynamic period in the development of Britain's railways. They are historically important in the DMU story and would be useful addition to many preserved railways."

"Dynamic period," you must be joking.

"useful addition to many preserved railways!" What as, a camping coach maybe.

Ooh, it looks much ruder when you put the asterisks in!

So who has more members, the Pacer crowd or the S**th B*ds crowd? Bearing in mind the Pacer people have hired a minibus on rails to hold their AGM in , which might give some indications of the expected turnout...

Anyway, back to more early diesels. Here's today's task for the class: in the early diesel DP1, does DP stand for "double penetration", referring to the two pistons in one cylinder? And if so, how do you explain DP2?

(Victor - you are advised not to use Google to answer that question...)
