Didcot Railway Centre welcomes home steam railmotor 93 and King class 6023 after their winter and spring tours of heritage railways. The world's only working steam multiple unit (SMU) will be launched on Saturday 4 May by Lord Faulkner. The SMU of steam railmotor 93 (built 1908) and trailer 92 (built 1912) is a forerunner of all modern DMU and EMU trains. On 4 May it will run on the main demonstration line at Didcot Railway Centre, alongside modern DMUs on the parallel Network Rail line.Lord Faulkner will be signing copies of his book 'Holding the Line' on Saturday.
6023 will be working on Sunday 5 and Monday 6 May with the SMU performing on Didcot's branch demonstration line.
