An A4 up the ECML is always worth making the effort for. That said, depending on the train formation, I may well be spending the whole day right next to whatever will be hanging off the back. But there is the possibility of an even time dash so we shall see.

Lincoln will also be busy with VTL arriving with a Hall and a UKRT Intercity thingy.

The timings I saw said WCRC diesel to assist in London area, no mention of it staying on the train all day. I don't recall seeing a diesel on the back of previous Lincoln tours either.

I think I may be on this. The other half is treating me to a day out for my birthday. Not told me where or how we're getting there but I have a sneaky feeling we're off to Lincoln with an A4. Could be completely wrong of course.

I think there is a DL shunt at Lincoln but one can remain hopeful that we get the steam heated stock and dear old Tangmere gets the DL backup.

The train has to set back into Terrace Sidings after it arrives at Lincoln - I can't remember whether it has propelled back in the past or there has always been a diesel on the back for such a move.

It does seem that RTC = Diesel on the back at the moment unfortunately. Is that something to do with below standard rolling stock ?

These trains are aimed at the family Market Mum Dad Grandad Grandma and the kids a cold train would be very unpopular
From January onwards we will be without diesels on the back

Unfortunatly steam heat is not as good as Electric heat

Steam heat's not so bad if you're at the front though.
Here's hoping "posh class" is next to the loco today.

21:49 into Kings Cross. Fairly tame climb to Stoke on the return.
