This may be a conversation that we have had once upon a time before, but what I find so mesmerising about this image is not only the subject but also the echoes of location, composition and technique that remind me so vividly of the work of Michael Mensing that as I recall graced the pages of latter day editions of "Trains Illustrated" in the late-50's/ early 60's. And it must be said that 55+ years on, this image is truly a worthy successor to that body of work.!!

It's a few years away yet, but will extra services by the new West Midlands franchise be an issue for the future of the Shakespeare Express?
    • enhanced frequencies by May 2021 on the Snow Hill lines on a Sunday with services from Birmingham increasing to 2 trains per hour to Stratford-upon-Avon, 3 trains per hour to Shirley, 3 trains per hour to Solihull, 6 trains per hour to Stourbridge Junction with 4 extending to Kidderminster
