Having worked with these guys and their MGR wagons at Chasewater (alongside the railway's own examples) I hope you don't mind me sharing their latest appeal which I supported today. Can we help them get to £500 this weekend and put them in a great position to secure the first wagon

The National Wagon Preservation Group (formally The MGR Appeal) is appealing for members and donations in order to raise funds in order to preserve a select few wagons coming up for disposal. The group's current collection comprises of two MGR coal hoppers and a RNAD box van for storage, located at The Chasewater Railway and Barrow Hill respectively.

Currently, one of the MGR hoppers, HMA 355798 is undergoing restoration back to it's original condition.

The wagons that are coming up for sale are icons of British Rail Engineering Limited; including the HEA coal hopper; OAA Basket wagon; SPA steel side coil and the BAA bogie bolster steel wagons. However without donations from the public, these wagons will be vunerable for disposal by the scrapman and we cannot sit back and let this happen.

Please offer any donations possible to NationalWagonPresGroup@gmail.com to help us preserve a peice of our British history!

    • Any donations of £50 or above will be entitled to a years complimentary membership and acknowledged in their donation when the wagon is purchased.
    • Anyone who offers to sponsor an entire wagon, at around £500 per wagon, will receive a complimentary life membership and acknowledgement of the donation made.
The crowdfunding website can be found here http://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/NWPG/ with the appeal nearly a third of the way towards its goal .

Purging the tank will cost alot more than anticipated, EOR will support us with finding a contractor at a reasonable price, and the wagon's home is dependant on it being purged so please offer a small donation to help us do this.
