Not really blocking....certainly we left it there for a while as it was nicely out of the way, and handy in case it was required. Anyway it just made it all more interesting.

Apologies for the poor quality mobile camera shot. I had just put my phone away as RTT was showing the Black Five was sitting the other side of Aldershot Station. Having been running early up to Aldershot sods law meant that the Five was now delayed and I had to head back to work, a 15 minute walk away from the bridge I was on. I was just about to give up when I saw steam in the distance so I whipped my phone out again and grabbed the best picture I could.
45212 was a cop for me. Nice to see her beautifully turned out.

The NYMR have definitely had four in steam on one day. Not sure from memory which the four were, though. Perm any four from 44767, 44806, 44871, 45407 & 45428.

According to my venerable 1973 Ian Allan Combined volume, five (44767, 44871, 44932, 45231 and 45407) and I think 44806 may have been based there for a while prior to this.

44806 was not at Carnforth for long and moved to the Lakeside and Haverthwaite around 1970/1 if I remember.

Great pictures @Hampshire Unit. I was surprised to see 33202 being used until I was advised that it is at the railway until at least the early part of 2018. Now I see the 03 getting used so was wondering if you know what the situation is with the "Flowerpot"?

I've ripped this from t'other thread, to save hijacking it...........

Sorry, but I think you'll find that the lineside huts are all done by the hand of the PWay gangs without assistance from the builders - they have enough on their plate!

45231 and support coach safe and sound at Ropley this evening....Mid Hants Ops manager Richard Bentley, who had a late night last night with the arrival of the Bath Spa special at 01:36 at Alton, pointed out that there have been 5 days of movements on/off the Mid Hants and Network Rail at Alton

There is a new update on the Icons of Steam website today about her move to the MHR. It confirms that she will be at Ropley for "the coming months" to haul Santa Specials and take part in the February Gala. It was also nice to see that they have changed the shed code on her smokebox door to 56D, Mirfield in tribute to former owner Bert Hitchen (this would have been his home shed). http://www.iconsofsteam.com/2017/12/sherwood-forester-back-action/

I didn't realise she has been out of action for two years. Great to have her back though.

If you like black 5s (and who doesnt) this weekend is an all Stanier affair day and evening. 45379 and 45231, now all we need is light sprinkling of snow on the fields.....

You're currently forecast for a little on Monday.
Of course, that's way too far ahead to be accurate.

I've lived 20 minutes from the Mid Hants for every second of my existance, but this was only the second time I've ever photographed a Santa Special... the first time being in 2010, and that was a rather poor effort!

The promised forecast of full sun all afternoon failed to materialise. Here's 45231 at Bowers Grove Lane and the latest acquisition back in the yard after 3 years! Good to have 73096 back... and it was also good to see 45231 back after all these years. There's a photo on a hard drive somewhere in the house of a 10 year old James standing in front of 45231 at Alresford on it's last visit to the line.
