I'm very interested in this event. Anyone been before? My understanding is that there are mainline specials from Prague to the event on both days. Several engines in steam at the Czech Railway Museum in LUZNA and short mainline steam trips from the event itself.

And that 4-8-4 looks a real BEAST!

Ive done a bit of digging to see what I could find on this:

434.2186 - 27th June (unrelated tour from Prague)

    Praha Braník depart 0946
    ?er?any 1125 – 1202
    Benešov 1214 – 1247
    Postupice 1307 – 1446
    Praha Braník 1757

M262.0 830 Old railcar - 27th June (unrelated tour from Prague to Bezd?z castle)

    Praha Smíchov 0824
    Praha Vršovice 0833
    Nymburk m?sto 0935
    Mladá Boleslav hl. n. 1011
    Bezd?z 1051

    Doksy 1102 - 1728

    Bezd?z 1741
    Mladá Boleslav hl. n. 1835
    Nymburk m?sto 1906
    Praha Vršovice 2010
    Praha Smíchov 2028

From Luzna, I found these services advertised:

    Lužná u Rakovníka 09.52 / 13.52 (Steam 25th June) 10.42 / 13.45 (Old Railcar 26th June)
    Kolešovice 10.42 / 14.42 (Steam 25th June ) 11.25 / 14.28 (Old Railcar 26th June)

    Kolešovice 11.30 / 14.33 (Steam 25th June) 10.52 / 14.52 (Old Railcar 26th June)
    Lužná u Rakovníka 12.15 / 15.18 (Steam 25th June) / 12.46 / 16.46 (Old Railcar 26th June)

The event coincides with a concert in Lužná and there are special trains from Prague, but didnt see anything advertising steam (nor any running slower than the service train), so I dont know if there is a steam special to this from Prague.

    Locomotives in attendence are:

    310.0134
    354.195
    354.7152
    423.094
    434.1100
    464.001
    464.008
    464.102
    464.202
    477.013
    477.043
    555.0153

Yes this looks a lot bigger than the TKT Tanks in Poland, it might match an Chabowka's OKz32-2, but then thats a 2-10-2 freight tank !

Eastern european engines are just bigger !

Well, I'll say one thing - the Czech's know how to throw a steam engine party! What a special and spectacular event this was. A gathering of tank engines at the CD Railway Museum at Luzna, with no less than FIVE of them venturing out during the afternoon to work short trips on the mainline (less than a Fiver each trip). A heritage diesel worked a special train from Prague to the museum on both days and drew huge amounts of attention from linesiders. I'm certainly keeping my eye on the Luzna calendar - I'll definately be back.

    some phots from here;

    http://johnleyland736.mediaobject.co.uk/p59264244.html

The gallery also contains some shots of current Czech traction working in and around Prague. Locomotives/coaches/ shunting and run-rounds - a REAL railway !

They are indeed. I was totally blown away by Czech Steam. The Czech Railways attitude to steam traction seems very healthy and supportive too. I'll be back !
