Very good, shame to see these two bow out of service.

What's the latest with 90733, has now not worked since 2010?

^^ Repairs still continuing, the important thing is that the locomotive is done right to give it many more years in service

I as always will be coming up on the Saturday. K&WVR always put on a good show for the enthuiasts.

Will have to try & get as much mileage behind 41241 and the 2 L&Y loco's.

Is 1300 visiting for the Gala only, or likely to be staying a little longer ?

    Just noticed on KWVR webpage;

    Timetables:

Passenger timetables will be available online shortly. Full details of loco allocations will be available to purchase shortly before the event and on the day for a small fee.

I thought KWVR don't normally charge for gala timetables; as I cannot remember buying any in recent years?

Hopefully this isn't a retrograde step that spreads to the diesel galas...

Despite what some may think, Gala are even't to raise money for the railway, if they don't they will not happen, as such charging what I expect will be a relatively small fee is not to much to ask, I usualy pay a larger fee myself as donotion on such even't for the roster or program.

    Oh dear.

The sole reason why I am spending two days this weekend at NYMR rather than FR/WHR is one provides a roster on the internet so I am able to see what's on offer and decide its worthwhile, whilst the other doesn't without buying as roster to find out whether the six locos I am interested in are working passenger trains or not.

And this from a KWVR life member,so no freeloading from me.

Would you happily go to a football match and pay extra to know which teams are playing? Would you go to a concert and pay extra to find out which bands were playing? If the organisers are concerned that the event won't cover its costs without charging for rosters*, I'd suggest the horse has already bolted... If anything, I'd rather the price of a roster was added to the rover fare, and rosters handed out free - just on a point of principle. We all know, and accept, that things can, do, and most likely will go wrong on the day with nobody to blame, it happens. When this then throws the roster out of the window - after we've paid for it - it leaves a sour feeling... This is particularly pronounced when it's published as a glossy gala booklet, at some expense, which is redundant to most who want the roster. This benefits nobody but the printing firm!

    * - Not suggesting they are, just replying to the point about galas needing to make money.

Just been to the mid hants and they have the booklet as part of the cost, add a couple of quid to the price but everyone has a leaflet. A quick call to the local businesses telling them there is a guaranteed audience (everyone will read the booklet if it's part of price, who knows how many you will actually sell??) Should also help pay for the costs of it?

but we all know which loco's are at the gala, and also we know all will do passanger runs, and its usual guest engines to run a goods working unless unsuitable.

Also speaking as life member of KWVR and frankly as a member of the railway I can't understand why a supporter of the railway does not wish people to make a small donation to the cost of the event.

Whereas buying a rover isn't doing that?

Not all locos work all days either (from previous galas); which can cause dissapointment if travelling for a particular loco.

True, Friday will have a dlightly reduced fleet I would expect which is always one or two of the home fleet which sit it out, but usualy all work the weekend however a minor home fleet loco may be kept in reserve. I expect once the final alloacation is completed the loco's running on which days will be confirmend on the web site before the event, I seem to remember them doing so before.Of course IF you are planning on coming all days amd in perticular the weekend then this is not an issue, so spending two days as you say at the weekend like at NYMR as You say it is not an issue.

Can only do the one day sadly; at the weekend; so hope all locos are in service then.

    Thanks
