Bernard Rainbow was honoured for his services to railway preservation by the award of an MBE earlier this year.

74 year old Mr Rainbow retired from the post of Chief Traction Inspector of the Severn Valley Railway, a post he had held for some 26 years. He had a 44 year career with British Railways in its various forms, and celebrated an involvement of almost 60 years in railway preservation.
