Now 150L at Chandlers Ford - horrible time loss on two consecutive tours arising from infrastructure failures.

A desperately sad end to the day. One hopes that Network Rail released the train from Bristol as soon as the track circuit failure had been fixed as to have despatched everything else first and then the charter would have really made it difficult for the train to get back given the cross country route it was taking.

My nipper was on that when he was just a lad, along with some fellow MHR volunteers- he ended up staying with them as it was so late...as I said, Hampshire unit has been fired up ready to pick up passengers at Alton... I might just nip up to the station and see who is "bobby" tonight and whether they will persevere with the DEMU shuttle.

Very sad. Just checked RTT and the arrival time back at Alton has now changed to 1.20am!

Hampshire unit left Alresford for Alton about 23:20. Two signalmen at Alresford prepared for a long night with 01:21 now predicted for Alton arrival, so 1125 not likely to be back here until 02:00 or so

Further delayed due to being held at Romsey's E882 signal (for a path along the single line through Chandlers Ford to Eastleigh) - currently 150L.
45212 through Reading and currently 119L having made up 2 mins.

45212 safely back at Southall but those poor tour passengers are now 156L through Haslemere.
I wonder if catering is still going on-board for comforting Teas/Coffees/etc.

The excursion actually got back to Alton at 01.36, 153 minutes late.

Another ghastly day - NR should be taken for everything they've got for their continuing mismanagement of their portfolio. There are still far too many OHL incidents and 'signal failures' around the system.

From what can be gleaned from RTT looks like the tour got a very fair crack of the whip regarding a path to Bath once things did start running again, which for my experience is unusual for a train with a 1Z headcode, wherever its final destination may be. It appears everything was either cancelled or turned back at Bath during the issues. Not sure what GWR did with all those passengers that must have been chucked off trains at Bath Spa though. I suspect it was pure chaos.

It didn't get any better today as there was another signal failure in the same area. Chaotic scenes from 11:00 to 14:45.
The Belmond Pullman which was heading for Bath was held at Salisbury for just under an hour. <BJ>

All these infrastructure failure's have tied in nice with the news regarding the hike in ticket prices.
