The Battlefield Line is having an ‘Any Thing Goes Gala’ over this Bank Holiday weekend, Sat 23rd, Sun 24th, & Mon 25th May. Locomotives in use will be B1 1306 Mayflower, fresh back from the SSS II gala, DMU 116/118 power twin Set, 31101, 25067, 47640, 37905. This will be 37905 last runs at the Battlefield line before visiting the Mid Hants for the rest of the season. Mayflower is now facing chimney first out of Shackerstone, to Shenton, opening up new photographic opportunities from the lineside. The railway’s griddle car will be in use, preparing hot food and a real ale bar will be also available on board, and the Victorian tea room and railway museum will also be open at Shackerstone.

Trains start at 10am each day from Shackerstone with the last departure at 5pm. The Battlefield line will also be having a membership drive over the Bank Holiday, with chances to visit normally restricted areas, including services stopping at Market Bosworth, to allow visitors to see what has happened there since the vandal attack last year., this will be the first time that public services have stopped at Market Bosworth in over 10 years. A working timetable with Loco allocations is at available at http://www.battlefield-line-railway.co.uk , directions to Shackerstone are also available on the website.

    Excellent news George! =D>

Shackerstone is very underrated and definately worth a visit. Looks like the event has a good line up!

    Will 1306 be pulling 5?

    Cheers,

    GW

Dropped in to Shenton this morning to see Mayflower in all her splendour, arrived with a load of 6.
A credit to the owners & volunteers, really adds character to the line & nice to be facing Shenton for fresh shots.
