It's an interesting sign of the times that even with the fuel economy and pace of Tornado it will take six hours to get to Scarborough. Compare that with the Scarborough Flyer of the 1960s that took four and a half hours including two loco changes at Grantham and York. Of course it's all down to pathing and watering but it illustrates the issues of squeezing steam into the crowded network.

Stormed over Digswell Viaduct on time. Shame the blue skies that were around at Kings Cross when I left didn't last!

Great soundtrack although I was slightly distracted by the guy on the right trying to encourage a whistle from the driver! :)

Running at line speed with no effort despite the heavy trailing Pullmans, north of Grantham. 2019-06-15 60163 Marston_0898.jpg

It's forecast to be raining heavily when it returns to my part of the world: but I think I shall sit and watch it from the comfort of my car at a nearby level crossing.

I'm hoping to catch her on the rising grade through Hitchin for a sound recording but rain will not be good for that so hopefully it will stay up your neck of the woods.
