    Evening all !

Tornado looked and sounded superb last night, well done to all involved.
Here are the fruits of my labours on a very dark and crowded Northallerton.
A great evening all round, good yorkshire food and beer ! Thanks to Neil and Ralph for sharing the journey and putting the world to rights !

    Anyway heres the clip........http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=q9MVzV94KNE

Also a couple of stills grabbed from the clip, the flash photography notices being ignored again! ](*,)

Its been nice to see her "ghostly" image, time for a splash of colour eh !

    Kind regards......Matt Curtis.

I've seen this guy quite a lot over at Colton Junction but never on the trackside. It's people like him that are going to get us all banned. Thanks for reporting him, i wonder if the BTP will actually do anything we all know what the police are like these days.

The ever-reliable Daily Mail have yet another article up about Tornado, with a link to one of the best Youtube vid's of it thundering through Durham.

I doubt it, they didn't even have an email address to report a crime-I had to send it to 'General Enquiries'.

Those screen grabs have come out very well Matt, the one of the wheels stopped even at that speed. Nothing from mine, it was too dark where I was and no flashes either but there was this one a bit further up the platform, and that is more powerful that your average.

Interesting article from The Northern Echo which although going on about sterotypes perhaps a little too much, ends with a great line which really sums up the effect Tornado has had these last few months; "In future, perhaps we should all think twice before laughing at that trainspotter standing on the platform."

Oh yes, article has both a video [larger size]... and ringtone! :D

Thanks for sharing all those great vids everyone =D>
I have had a look at the second camera I set up at Northallerton and salvaged this short passing shot :-

    http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=iQLBkBdRMY0

Not as good as most due to the packed platform, but I thought I might as well post it.
I am really looking forward to a "daylight sortie" over in Yorkshire in the New Year for the first passenger runs and sampling some more of the food and drink \:D/ \:D/ \:D/

It sems ok now, although I uploaded it at about 9pm last night and for some reason it wasn't available until I checked it this morning. It was still being processed at around 11.45 when I last looked last night :-k
BTW, thanks for the kind comments,
    Neil

Interestingly with our chat about the Gentleman on the newspaper website on the lineside, you can actually see him on the LHS of Alberta's video at the beginning

After speaking to various people on the platform at Chester le Street, i think the A1 trust may be missing a opportunity to "tap in" to the almost hysteria surrounding the last main line test.

When people asked when they could travel behind her, the obvious conclusion is they cannot in the North East, the runs at the end of January are for supporters only. While that is great for people like myself and family, its probably frustrating to the audience who witnessed tuesdays events.

The number of "normals" on the platforms and witnessed on video clips supports my view that an opportunity to offer something for these people would offer the trust an excellent opportunity for the trust to earn a windfall before she disappears down south on railtour duty.

I know that is where the majority of work is available, but feel tuesdays events have shown up a NEW market that the A1 trust could tap into, and it is close to home, in respect of where she has been built.

Anybody from the A1 trust got any views???

Granted, doing up to 25mph, at a gala where it is going to be star attraction, and you have to travel 70- 80 miles to see it. There must be a better way to get her to the masses, it was the high speed "low level" fly past that left everybody awestruck!!!!

    Hi,

As you have already noted, our very first main line trips are reserved for the covenantors who have so loyally supported us over the years.

But our first public main line trip - in celebration of Tornado's North East heritage - will be a Talisman run from Darlington to London Kings X. And it will be fantastic if some of the hundreds of people who cheered us along on Tuesday night were on that trip!

And we will be back in the North of England in the Spring of 2009 so please bear with us!

All details of proposed trips will be on the Trust website as soon as we have them - click on the "Travel with Tornado" tab when you reach our home page at http://www.a1steam.com (as if you needed reminding :)!) Please do not ring the hotline or email.

    Many thanks, Alexa

I know it's too late now, but that was one opportunity the A1SLT PR machine missed, flyers handed out at the various stations on Tuesday evening.. for all the 'normals' gathered.
