I Still didnt get it because prior to your post no one had offered an explanation with this level of detail. I thank you for your explanation. Your opening comment is unworthy of you and you can have it back.

Sorry if my reply sounded a bit abrupt but the very first response to your post (from @chrishallam) did explain it to you, if in less detail than I provided. No offense intended, I assure you.

Could have been worse… could have had white walled tyres like Hornby used to do for everything…

I suspect nobody realised how much the installation of the new cab signalling system would complicate this overhaul. When you are having to design and build around an already complex and tightly constrained location it must take a lot of time and patience. getting the cable runs in conduits, the need for cabinets etc etc. On top of a Heavy General overhaul.....plus a new build P2...... plus a new manufacturing base.
I am just pleased to see that Tornado is looking more and more finished.

Yet I remember some rolling stock having exactly that when outshopped...

Crikey! If a Queensland Rail loco had roller bearings they painted the whole thing brown….yes, the whole loco….

    Be thankful for small mercies.;)

Everything on a coach that is picked out in a stand out colour is done for a reason, it's to tell a fitter, what the bearing types are, what the dampers are, the strength of the springs, even between 2 coaches, there will be differences, due to Tare weights etc, hence why the need for the multitude of colors you will see on an outshopped coach,

    .

As this is now on the main tours site I think supporters should have had advance notice of this so they had first dibs before it went on general sale.

Does that imply VT operating it, or just providing the stock?

Well I won’t be booking until MUCH nearer the date given the no-shows in 22 & 23.

I understand your point of view @Sheff. Having had trips postponed, rescheduled then cancelled pre covid I'm a little

hesitant myself. I see that there is a discount for Armed Forces members on this tour. Now as ex forces myself I don't

begrudge that, but wonder why covenanters and supporters don't get any sort of concession.

Previously in the early days covenanters were entitled to a footplate ride, something that Gemma phoned me about, but the

date offered was not convenient at the time and after that they seemed to stop them. Also at the last convention I attended

before covid Lee and Lauren told me that you could accrue a credit to be used against a tour. That scheme also no longer

exists so my credit never got used either.

IMO the trust changed after Mark Allatt left, a feeling I think other people have expressed before.

I just hope this tour runs as planned on the date given.

I'm afraid I begrudge the Armed Forces discount as much as I begrudge the lionising of NHS staff and their seemingly endless discounts these days

I never got my footplate ride either...

Several years ago I was booked on one of the Aberdonians from Edinburgh, to fit in with a few days at the Edinburgh Fringe. It still hasn't happened (and this year's Aberdonians are outside the dates of the Fringe), though to be fair I did get a refund.
Also I was with a friend on the ill-fated Ebor Flyer. We were promised first dibs on the next 90 mph run, which looks like never happening, and a discount on a future trip, for which I have received no offer.

Saturday the 29th of June is Armed Forces Day, it's probably a one off in recognition of that day .
