Wouldnt you wish for better lighting on some stations to get some decent shots of her coming into the station?

I would hope to be around, but I really need to find someone from west of t'hills to share the 240 mile round trip with. It seems a long way for what might only be a few seconds as she hurtles through some station in the dark. :-k

In which case can i recommend you go to Northallerton, its further south, and you will get the full flavour there as well.

Only problem could be if its being switched on/off the slow north/south.

Keep up the good video work.

From memory the approach to Thirsk (northbound) is under a Roadbridge, and you probably can get it from the southbound platform heading north.

Im sure at this stage the ECML is 3 lines, with the northbound platform behind a fence, with the middle line used for non-stop north traffic, i would have a bash at google earth to see if any opportunitys are available.

Its not a place we have been to.

Northallerton is only 15 mins up the road.

    Its Quality!!!!

Most of us here in Northallerton would say "No - for anything!" but its a strange place - a friend of mine who always used to take the p*ss out of Thirsk ended up living there, so i need to be careful!

On the subject in hand, the fast lines at Thirsk have no platform faces, with slow lines on the outside of the Platforms. This will mean much less light in the dark on the fast lines.

Northallerton will be a better bet - the platforms are partly offset, so you don't get light from one shining across to the other but you should be okay on the Up Platform for the approach from the south due to light shining across from the Up side - as long as there isn't an Up train going through at that point of course!

Hope to be there myself, at least on the Down.

Looks like you may have an invasion from this side the Pennines. Cossie Matt, Belle and myself (Matt, Neil & Ralph) are checking that our passports are in order before heading that way for Tuesday evening.

Ah but we are sneaking in using a low flying Stealth Saab, so you will need more than a check point to stop us. ;-)

We will have to see if Mr Riley has any of that extra special black paint that was surplus to requirements from the American Stealth bomber project spare. :-$ 8-[
