Thanks for all the video clips and pictures on here folks. It delights me to see so many people out on the platforms to observe her and I bet they are not all enthusiasts!
Regarding the flash photography I normally don't bother on the ML unless it's of something stationary in good light and that's not very often. Last time I took night pictures was at Waterloo with OC and nothing was said to the gathering of photographers:[attachment=0:3pmvqi0k]OC WATERLOO 11SEPT.JPG[/attachment:3pmvqi0k] I usually just do video as it's more atmospheric at night.

Still I can see where they are coming from with the safety aspect and respect this. These days with digital you don't need to use it anyway as was mentioned earlier on this thread.
Also did anyone else see this?

Yes. Of course, if anybody gets asked to leave a railway station you can always use the code of conduct. This works well as long as you also follow it and take on board rules re:flash photography, use of tripods, etc. Oh and also remember you do not always have access to stations, there are times when it may be denied for other reasons.

    Hello,Greenfive.
The orange colour cast(artificial lighting in the station) can these days be removed through 'photoshop',either auto or manual.

So we'll see 60163 down at Dollands Moor in a few years, and then onto the SNCF Network shortly after =D>

Just been looking at the times for the next test run from York - Newcastle, and i'm a little confused.

Right i understand the fact that it comes out of the NRM, through P10 and into Holgates for the coaches, but then it'll have to come back up through the station won't it to get to the other side of York bound for Newcastle, just wondering which platform people think it may come through.
Sorry if I’m asking the obvious here.

Also does anyone know of any nice little stations accessible above York where i may be able to catch it instead of York?

We normally go to Northallerton, hopefully should be at its line speed by there, northbound comes around a corner into view, and then a long shot into the distance from southbound platform, the better shot is southbound, you see and hear it from approx 2 miles away, working uphill, only possible problem is if it being moved onto the slow, its wont be shifting.

That said my first "new" experience with mainline steam at speed was 6233 with The Talisman, and it was awe inspiring, it honestly took our breath away, the noise speed and power.

Anyway, best off luck on the 18th, keep the video clips coming, we will be at Chester le Street this time, then Tyne Yard.

Too right. Wouldn't you want the SAS on hand if a Tornado was about to hit town? \:D/

I don't know if anyone else has seen it but I just noticed this on the NRM website

We are sorry to announce that there has been a change of plan and Tornado will not be on display at the NRM in November. We will make further announcements about Tornado’s visit to the NRM when future dates are finalised.

It was in the prep bay at the NRM yesterday with work being done on it. No doubt, little problems have to be ironed out and these cannot be sorted whilst the loco is in the museum area.
I was not impressed with the rust on the tender buffers. The A1 team have built it, but now they have to learn to look after it. An application of engine oil would work wonders.

Whilst you may well find it impossible to get your oics to look as if they were taken in daylight, much of the colour cast can be removed in PS. Auto levels or auto colour balance probably won't be enough to correct things so you'll need to play around with such controls as "hue/saturation", "remove colour cast" and "replace colour". All of these can have an effect on your image and a combination of these may well be the answer to your problem.

It depends how you present yourself...

Stand at the start of the platform at Kings Crosslooking dead ahead on a hot sunny day at the tunnel...
Some bloke comes upto you and says what are you doing ?...
You stop staring at the tunnel and say to him.. "sir there's a tornado coming"
You return to your staring at the tunnel...

The bloke looks at the blue sky, looks at you, looks back at the blue sky.. looks at you...
deciedes to walk away quickly and phone for help...

Reminds me once of the bloke stood at a road bridge and this woman in a car stops seeing a line of people on a hill and says "Whats going on ?"
The man replies "Lord Nelson is coming"
She looks at him and says, "he's been dead nearly 200 years", locks the doors and drives off as quick as she can.

Done that myself, had a trip to Holyhead behind 6233, some friends picked us up to go to their house for lunch. Next door neighbour popped in and we remarked that we had come to Holyhead with the Duchess of Sutherland. She was very impressed that we had such posh friends who would give us a lift. 8)

I've heard they are working on a problem with the middle engine. Not sure what, but something got too warm.

Middle crosshead slipper started shaving metal I understand. She still got back from Barrow Hill ok and no doubt the problem will be sorted - not a failure like some rumours that have been going around.
