    I am surprised that they didn't have to leave it where it was pending arrival of Air Accident Investigation Branch.

    Pleased to hear pilot okay and all repairable. The comparative lack of damage in a sudden deceleration from air-borne shows why such planes could be flown off wooden platforms on top of battleship's gun turrets! (Recovery was "interesting, although some early ship-borne recoveries were "a bunch of men catch it as it passes!")
