A driver told me that heavy rain causes no problems as it cleans the railhead, drizzle is nasty because it makes the railhead greasy.

    Cheers Dave

I understand no diesel and 12 coaches. The diesel is working via Chippenham and not via the Golden Valley and is expected to pass Didcot at 14:07 on the slow line for anyone interested.

You're in luck, I'm off to Didcot now so will post my video later. Let's hope she is on the fast, like she is booked, as it will be pretty spectacular.

Was going to go to Sapperton, but this weather was so bad, I gave it a miss!

Going back to yesterday. I watched the double header climb Dainton Bank, and noted how the lead engine was shrouded in steam/smoke.
My question is - how do they see the signals?

My apologies if this is not the right place for this question.

Yea was superb control on the bank, first slip i think was right by me at Skew/Jackdaw bridge, just before frampton mansell, then the echo was wonderful to hear on the way up to the tunnel

As already reported a few short slips on Sapperton but all kept under control and a marvellous sound all the way to the tunnel. I must have been stood next to Eggbert!
Video being worked o, should get it up soon.

I'm generally a 'Sunny Weather' video man but a Castle unassisted over Sapperton
in driving rain with 12 on ....bring it on!!

I was certainly impressed with the driving in such difficult conditions. Well done.

For those who chose not to witness the train at Sapperton, bad decision. Nearly two
hours after the occasion I still have a big grin on my face. <BJ>

Through taplow at 14:46. Didn't realise the up platform on the relief now has a restriction for castles, gave us a longer look at her. Now to contemplate saunderton in a few hours for her run back.

It was an epic run back, sadly the weather put me off, the link to my video going through Didcot is below. It was a great weekend for 5043, well done to everyone at Tyseley - 5043 is nothing short of perfection (in my eyes anyway!) :)
