The Railway Touring Company ran the Devonian charter from London Paddington to Plymouth on the 7th October 2006. The motive power was LMS Pacific 6201 Princess Elizabeth, an unusual visitor to the West Country so I headed west to see this fine machine perform on the Devon Main Line.
Princess Elizabeth worked the train from Taunton to Plymouth and back again. The train is seen climbing Whiteball at Marlands and at Dainton on the outward leg then at Hemerdon and Tiverton Parkway on the return.
