2999 seemed in OK health today. Driven very carefully this morning and noted Will Marsh the CME on the footplate, so clearly checking repairs were sufficient.
On the return a bit more chimney noise and as per previous, a lovely run up the bank.
She looked the business on the Great Western set, pure elegance.
One thing I did notice (owing to the lack of light in the carriages!) was a fair few sparks flying past in Bewdley tunnel. Hope she isn't guilty of any Lineside fires with embankments that look very brown, dry and flammable..

Latest Steam Railway reports 71000 Duke of Gloucester is due to arrive on the railway for testing before the end of the month.

Additionally, 1450 has been steam tested at the Flour Mill and will move back to the SVR during autumn.

Il believe that when it comes past our mess room. Theres realistically 10 working days left of the month. Photos from a member of 7812 group from 3 weeks ago showed an awful lot still to do. Unless its leaving TYS as a WIP.

quite. The Steam Beano may be right, but as a 71000 member (and SVR member fwiw) they certainly didn’t mention it to us in the last update last week…

The Facebook update last week simply stated they were "desperately keen for the overhaul to be completed in 2024”. Still 3 1/2 months to go for that too happen...

There's a lot of locos where I am "desperately keen for the overhaul to be completed in 2024”. Many of them aren't even under overhaul ...

71000 is one loco I am very keen to see return to steam, I never did get a ride behind it on the mainline - the one trip I booked on it failed beforehand.
I am sure in this case it will be ready when it's ready - at least it hasn't been promised on any tours!

There's a path in next Monday from Tys to Kidd. If it's going to happen, will likely be then:

    https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/service/gb-nr:U28032/2024-09-30/detailed

Coincidentally on the topic of arrivals and departures does anyone know when 44932 is due to leave the railway?

The path from Tyseley is for 2 x cl20s.
44932 and 45596 are both due to leave next week. We have an incoming railtour with 44871 on Saturday, which Bahamas will work the SVR leg and returns to Carnforth with 44932 sometime next week.

Interesting - I thought 45596 was working a few Midlands based rail tours so would go to Tyseley once done at the SVR?

I suspect 45596 will be a short hop from 10A to Keighley . saves two long loco and support moves

So should be a double headed ECS move then. As long as they don't stick a derv on the front as was done with 44871s ECS recently through the Midlands will certainly be worth seeing
