Any chance of a rough idea of times? I’ll try and let Dad know.

I've missed the sound of that whistle in the valley!

Especially the prolonged whistle for the un-gated farm crossing outside Highley, pure magic. :)

How come the mogul doesn't have a Caley-style hooter like most Stanier locos?

The first thirty of the class were given Midland 'bell' whistles, such as 2968 has and always had. Only the final ten got Stanier hooters.

Apart from one Christmas when it mysteriously obtained a spare hooter from the Riley boys for a few days!

As an aside, isn't there a traction engine, and also a narrow gauge loco that have gained Stanier hooters?. I'm sure that one of them came from one of the last-running 8Fs.

Yes Andy, I'd heard about that! Apparently, it fitted without any modifications being needed.

I enjoyed (probably) my last chance to see 43106 running back at the autumn gala. I've just put together a short video focusing on the loco at that event, including some cracking on board runs and being banked up to Bewdley tunnel by Taw Valley :)

2968's last hurdle, the steam heating, passed its insurance exam today. With only a few pieces of platework now to attach, she should be available for regular traffic next week.

I have some bits to pick up in Kidderminster on Saturday. I see that 43106 is running light to bewdley. Is bewdley station likely to be open to see it arrive? I'll obviously chuck some money in a collection bucket if available.
