I presume 45212 is the rostered traction

Hi All, does anyone know how this tour will work as there are no times for turning LMS 45212 as yet

Well, to say 45212 broke the sound barrier today would be an understatement. A sensational sound as it climbed Wilmcote bank.
The tour captured at Earlswood, Lapworth and Wilmcote:

My shot of 45212 blasting through Wilmcote on the return leg.

After a somewhat circuitous trip to Penkridge yesterday evening (A5 traffic at a standstill as the M54 eastbound was closed) I still had hopes of a silhouette against a colourful evening sky. Unfortunately the cloud thickened before 45212 drifted towards the stop at Stafford.

A nice crisp note from the Black 5. But isn't Wilmcote just over the top of a 1 in 75 out of Stratford? Vintage Trains always allows their Castles to get on with it, albeit with 7/8 on. That speed tells you all you need to know about what was doing about half the work out of Stratford. To be fair the Black 5 stood no chance on its own but that was just a tad OTT from the diesel, imo.

Thank you Al, very valid points and I do concur about the diesel; that does seems to be a common occurrence with the "Stratford Flyer" trips. It may also worth noting the return leg's slightly tight pathing on that section of the route.

The timings on Realtime Trains for yesterday's working indicated the Black 5 was due through Wilmcote less than 5 minutes after departure from Stratford, which it seems to have done (just) - at the cost of a hefty shove up the bank. For comparison, the paths for VT's "Shakespeare" trips generally seem to allow up to 8 minutes to travel the same distance.

We don't know whether these timings were those that NR produced or were by WCRC as part of the bid. Either way, clearly VT has the right approach if the pathing leeway permits. Your comments about timings are spot on though. When I with Bahamas with 8 on we took just under eight minutes to Wilmcote. When Clan Line took 12 Pullmans up there it was 9.5 minutes. As you say, under 5 minutes is crazy.

I made a stop at Danzey for the return after a visit to Statfold Barn earlier in the day, 45212 seen from low down in the field.
