SECR D 737

You know? How come the guys at the NRM were so desperate to push out 4472 [] when 737 would have been so much better, in fact, 1000x better!

I know I am GWR [and always will be] but the Chatham D would be so much better for railways like Bluebell, Kent & East Sussex or Spa Valley.

Hell! It would beautiful with some real antique wooden bodied coaches!

 

Please justify this statement with evidence.

 

I don't think it's madness or rubbish personally, It's my opinion I don't particularly like Flying Scotsman, it's not my thing.

737 is more my thing as it's smaller, lighter, bit more history to it and it just looks nicer.

I may have been a bit strong with my opinions and I do apologise for that BUT if I had the money I would personally restore 737, base it at Kent & East Sussex and let it be hired to other railways for certain enthusiast days, especially paired with some beautiful vintage carriages.

 

I understand that 737 has dicky crank. Also, it would be a shame to spoil that gorgeous livery (and I'm LSW!)
Agree about 4472, hated by drivers and shunters (that's me) at Eastleigh, hence the name Jockpig.

... but not hated by the general public, who are the ones who paid for it, and a lot more capable for showing its face all over the country on the main line. I'd likwe to see 737 restored to steam too but it s in no way comparable to 4472 in its general appeal

 

You are right.
Just gets a bit annoying when people who know (or care) nothing about trains suddenly think they are experts because they have ridden behind it.

Only reason I picked 737 was, like many smaller, older engines, that it wasn't getting next to no limelight.

All engines large, small, new, old, famous, not famous should get the equal amount of attention, not just:
"OH LOOK! FLYING SCOTSMAN!"
"What about Caley 419?"
"NOBODY CARES!"
