The 90 was operated by DBC (or whatever they called themselves that week) when WCR had their track access issue.

That's a tricky call for Saphos. The whole trip was sold with a 'wow factor' (quote) of being able to retrace (part of) the Golden Arrow route with steam and instead they get the route but no steam. I feel sure Saphos would have been mindful of possibly cutting the stopover short that wouldn't have gone down well given the marathon journey for most passengers. As it's turned out the removal of water stops (i.e. steam) has given folk about the time in Canterbury as originally planed (or given to LSL by NR).

Given that none of today was down to the organisers, it was one of those 'rock and hard place' decisions and sad for passengers but inevitable, I guess. Hopefully the tweaked return will get people back early.

100 passengers missed the train this morning as a result of the route change. So those of us in Non Dining are getting served a "slimmed down" version of the Pullman Dining menu. We're getting a starter, dessert and cheeseboard.

Dad’s mate onboard was compensated with 3 bottles of bubbly earlier, was rather happy with that.

Just checked my programme for the tour and Steve Chipperfield was driving so I assume the steam leg was WCRC. We and the Pathfinder tour with Britannia (which followed us up Shap) were denied access to Carlisle due to ECML diversions. They had a stop at Appleby, and both tours watered next to each other in Upperby yard.
Not a great couple of weeks as the next weekend the 90 heading south got hit by ballast from a passing engineering train near Hartford and the windscreen cracked. Luckily another was available at Crewe.

A couple of pictures I got of this one today, went out in case it was the 40 but not to be. At least I wasn't expecting to see steam as I imagine many people around Kent may have been this evening. The train didn't leave Canterbury until 1653, but has made up the time on the original schedule. I suppose today could answer the question if the majority of passengers on board care about what is on the front. Credit to LSL for giving as many of them as possible their day out given the circumstances, wasn't sure if this one would run at all this morning.

We know it won't be 70000 nor 60007 as they were seen heading to the ELR earlier.
What should have gone round Kent the other day? I'm guessing same loco this Saturday.

BTW, times are on RTT. Outward via Stroud, return via Evesham, which is the opposite to what I'd noted from Railway Herald a few weeks ago (and indeed, what RH is saying as I type)

    Outward: https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/service/gb-nr:U00846/2024-03-16/detailed

Has anyone had the official tickets for the trip to Canterbury on Tuesday yet?

I know it is only just inside the 7 days, but I won't have any way of printing the code after tomorrow (can only print in work now)

UPDATE: Found the e-mail containing tickets in my spam folder.
