Out of interest, how often does steam go via cobham nowadays? Spend a lot of time at the services due to work but haven't got lucky yet unlike anyone who happened to be there tonight!

Tour routed onto the fast at Surbiton, no reason not to after all!

Well an interesting chase was possible and thus one was made, providing a good show from the Bullied with plenty of smoke in the process! Seen at Egham, Witley bank, Hedge End, Bapton, Newton St Loe, Dilton Marsh on the climb to Upton Scudamore, and ending with a fast passing at Liss:

Message given for empty stock movement to Southall. ''This service was cancelled between Staines and Clapham Junction due to a person hit by a train''. <BJ>

Great series, many thanks. Dawn to Dusk coveragewould be an underestimate at both ends if the scale. Interesting to see the smoke deflectors' effect too.

70000 joined the Guildford New Line at Effingham recently, which is uncommon enough (once, maybe twice a year?), but the section from there to Hampton Court Junction is rare indeed (if ever post-1967?). What was the route home - via Clapham Junction, all the way across to the Windsor side and then under and across to Victoria, or just to CJ?

Which in railway terms of course is true even if the PHBT was not on the line between those two points.

I have always understood you are not allowed to carry passengers on that set of crossovers that gets you from the SW Lines to Victoria or the West London Line. Plus of course the tour was aiming for Staines (or St. Aines on Thames if you are posh:)) not Victoria

Yes, I did wonder about those crossovers.

I'm guessing it went from Wimbledon through East Putney to the Windsor lines at Clapham Junction.

Nope, down the main from Surbiton through Wimbledon and Earlsfield, terminating at Platform 7 at Clapham, then went ECS.

A fine outing yesterday with @TheModster and Co for 34046, similar to his fine upload here’s my contribution of the day, at Witley, Hedge End, Bapton, Newton St Loe, Dilton Marsh & Liss

Satisfying to hear Braunton giving a good sound at the chimney on the climb to Upton Scudamore, people have moaned ‘it would’ve been better if it was Britannia’ but let’s not forget steam is still steam and let’s appreciate what we’ve got, we could’ve had nothing…..

Hope the appropriate (rear) doors were kept locked at that platform - I don't think it takes more than about nine coaches with the loco inside the signal!

So how would that happen without having a steward standing there, unless you believe passengers listen to and observe announcements?

Exactly, CDL is not the panacea some would like us to believe, doors still have to be manned.
