44871 with the returning York-London Kings Cross RTC The White Rose at Lincoln Central looking and sounding superb. Running nine late at this point which certainly helped in that the 1830 DMU to Leicester on platform 4 had just left so giving a clear view.

Having set of from home in late afternoon sunshine for the short journey to Queensville curve, just south of Stafford station, the rain clouds soon gathered and by the time 44871 turned up heavy rain had set in. To make matters worse still a very late running Freightliner passed at the same time resulting in having to shoot from the wrong side of the footbridge than the more normal shot. IMG_6153.jpg

I presume likely to be 34067 unless CDL mk1 set available

Two shots of 44871 on the Cheshireman on the Crewe to Chester line on Saturday 2nd - first outbound at Worleston and return at Tattenhall Road. Worleston was dull and damp, but that was nothing compared to the hailstorm at Tattenhall Road! On both occasions the sun appeared within 10 minutes of the train passing P1000998 Worleston 44871.JPG Tattenhall Road 44871.jpg ......

Saturday's steed is 44871 according to the tickets.

For those interested in such things, its proving a useful exercise in mopping up some little sections of track with steam on the front. It also seems rather unusual to get Macclesfield in the up direction these days, while it might well be the first steam to take the junction at Norton Bridge since the new alignment opened.

It's not all that common for passengers to stay on between Manchester Piccadilly and Victoria, either - can't think of any previous occasions such as The Mancunian, where passengers had to disembark at Piccadilly for the ECS to head to Castleton. Other than that, for me there's likely a couple of required curves in the West Midlands, depending on what turns up on RTT.

I tend to reserve my "Likes" when it comes to uploaded photos for either shots in bright sunshine or dramatic night time pictures, but you deserve one the fortitude you must have needed to take that second picture! Anyone venturing out in to photograph trains what looks like absolutely atrocious conditions deserves some commendation for their efforts.

I see it's booked to go via the Sutton Park Line, which has been closed for the last few days. The few freights scheduled to use it have been getting diverted via New St instead. It wasn't a planned closure. Hopefully whatever it is will be all sorted in time for Saturday's tour.

Dang it, I'd been hoping for 34067, I've never seen a Bulleid at full pelt on the stretch of WCMl that goes past my house.

Previous trips have been suggested as a black 5 and then changed to a 75mph engine . Support crew of 44871 unaware of rostered for the March 9th trip . Also I guess needs a loco move as presumably at southall after the Cheshireman

Fair assumption to assume 34067 is on the Cumbrian tour on 16th March?
