RTC have now changed their T&Cs to request that face masks are worn on board.

The Bluebell have said in their opening guidelines that Face Masks are required for all trains but the dining ones you will be allowed to remove to eat, surely same applies on long distance service trains you wouldn't travel say London to Edinburgh without eating or drinking?

I wonder how long all these rules will be adhered to? My wife travels on the bus every day and says today she was the only one of about 10 people who was actually wearing a mask. Given that a lot of people have clearly given up on "social distancing" I suspect it won't be long before the masks get dropped too.

I just can't see the demand for a Far East themed travel experience with the potential for a Gestapo like enforcement if you don't observe the rules to the strictest of standards !

That would be applying common sense, and most of us know what's happened to that.

Been in touch with RTC about the seating in Standard Class and been told a booking for 4 - I booked 2 facing seats either side of the aisle pre-Covid to guarantee I have mileposts to time from - will lead to being seated at a Table for 4. There's not 2m between passengers sitting opposite. The assumption is that a party for 4 is 'one household' or one - what a silly word Boris and his blunderers came up with - a bubble. My bookings are usually 4 individuals from separate households in different towns. Not sure that's within the rules. Oddly the table across the aisle will be empty. The dangers are from bacteria flows directly at people. The 2 seats either side of the aisle is what should be the norm. Can't see us travelling under that arrangement.

If James is online, is that what you've advised RTC? Are there perspex separators between each row of seats? Would be good if you could publish the seating plans to inform our decisions. I know RTC and all promoters must be in a difficult position with passenger numbers but 4 in a 4 ain't smart.

WCRC website shows seating layouts inc screens for Jacobite I assume RTC will adopt the same arrangements.

The trouble with the bubble concept, or only one household travelling together, be it mainline or Heritage line is that it requires a level of honesty and responsibility that I feel may be lacking among a fair percentage of the population when making a booking. It is impossible to police if people live in the same location so the system will rely on trust.
Observance of rules has been shown lacking in many scenarios and if you look at some of the forums for more modern traction the term "bedwetter" seems to be being applied by some to those he see any issue or risk at all from Covid

@Davo - Perhaps you could contact the RTC and ask them? Not certain why you think anyone on here would know.

When i tried to book on the Hadrian 19 june Al i asked the call operator for R.T.C. about if the Hadrian tour on the 25 July would go ahead and wasent sure herself it would and only said it may do. and saw that the 1st Waverley tour on July 12 had been cancelled, it looked like on the 16 of augusts Waverley is advertised but no times up so wasent sure so thats the only reason i asked on here cos i dident think i would get a sure answer off 1 of the R.T.C. call operators.

I don't understand why you think that any member here would know more than someone working for RTC or WCR. In the case of the latter, yes I do sometimes get information before it is released to the general public, but I have long since stopped giving that info out on here as if it was changed I was accused of giving incorrect/misleading gen.

Implying you think Galberta will be at York?

I'd like to see the CME and Waverley runs safely up on RTT.

Well, think train length so that more socially distanced people can be accommodated. That does rather narrow the field down to Class 8s.

If the social distancing measurements are anything like those adopted by Transport for Wales, for 300 passengers we'll need 15 coaches!!
