Considering its sold out, then they should go ahead, even if its rescheduled. Most tours in the south west require a long distance positioning move, so its no different in this case.

Update: Hmm, that's strange. UK Steam Info seems to have reverted back to 30777 and 70013. May be my browser.

I was talking to FC about this at the WSR Gala,I was thinking along the lines of 70013 and 44871 work trhe train to Par for D1015 to Penzance. Steamers turned and serviced at St Blazey and pick the train up at Par on the return. The last thing anybody wants is a bill for light engine move so if the worst does happen this might be a way out.Crewing and paths might be a problem but it might work.Just a thought.

Having said that I really hope the strike is called off and everything runs as its booked.

44871 + 70013 now booked to run light from Penzance to Totnes on Sunday, 4th April. Quite a coup for the South Devon Railway.

    Thanks to uksteam. <BJ>

They'll keep 3803 and Dumbleton Hall company, then!

But less of a coup for the Cornwall Main Line, which will now not be seeing GB3 at all, if I read UKsteam right.

No but at least it'll see the Duchy.
Under the circumstances I think we must be thankful we are getting anything

Steam now comes on at Exeter according to UK steam info, presumably because a slower path for the steam section is required

Yes you are spot-on with that, according to letter with tickets. 44871 limited to 60mph and no path available Bristol/Exeter.Only alternative would have been curtailment at Par. Its a shame but guess its the best that can be done.

Still happy with it for the best bits are still steam-hauled. South of Plymouth is a completely new stretch of line for me in any case.

South of Plymouth? I think that would be a new stretch of line for all of us. <BJ>

Shouldn't that be "great west of Plymouth", B P ? Given your username it's not surprising that you like to put the s-word into things, lol.

Yes, I have always known that there was only one direction worth going in, and that's 'South for Sunshine'! I only added west to my last post in deference to the London and South Western Railway. Just don't ask me for directions to Thurso or Carlisle as I'll only say 'face south and reverse for several hundred miles'.

By the way, I'm in the standard buffet car (coach G- don't have the ticket to hand), so I have last shout at beer after I get on at Bristol (well definitely after 13:00). Feel free to pop over to say hello- young chap with sideburns who talks about Bulleids whatever the weather ;).

You'll be fairly close to a Bulleid just after you pass through Taunton on Saturday . 'Braunton' will be in steam just a few miles away at Bishops Lydeard on the WSR.
Hope you all have a very good day behind 44871 and Oliver Cromwell. <BJ>
