New 'Steam Railway' states 5043 will not be on this train (or 28th July) due to extra, unexpected work required.
With its mainline ticket expiring in October it is not economical to do this at the moment.

"Our train leaves Bristol Temple Meads diesel hauled at around 08:45 and stops to pick up further passengers at Yatton and Taunton. Here we will attach our Black 5 steam locomotive, for the journey to Cornwall."

Shame I'd have loved to see the hysterics if a pair of Vacs produced on it,

  3. A 'phone conversation with RTC just now produced an assurance of steam involvement, 'possibly' with diesel assistance.

Hmm. It has been raining in Devon this morning, so keeping my fingers crossed for steam without diesel involvement. Not confident that'll happen, though!

Show pony steam, Still on for hysterics then,

  6. WSR don't appear to be expecting any main line steam loco, so I guess any show pony will be present BTM-PAR-BTM.

Not exactly gonna be using much water or coal being in light steam is it,
least thats more deadweight for the diesel to carry,

It may have been raining where you are but at Wrangaton today where I was playing golf and where I live near Hemerdon it is very dry and warm. Forecast is no different to the weekend. So if steam is included I can’t see it will have much say on the places we all like to see steam working. Shame as there’s not a huge amount of steam down to Plymouth this year.
I’m enjoying the warm weather but just wish it woud rain every night!

It seems rather surprising to me that the mode of operation hasn't been at least provisionally confirmed to the promoter at this stage.

48 had to go to Toton for tyre turning so had to travel back to Carnforth for preparations to be made for its visit there. It's now going back together as it's back at Carnforth.

At Southall, the last time I checked. No LSL locomotive has worked a West Coast-operated train since the back end of last year so I doubt it will work the Duchy...

LSL seems to be aligning with DBC. Not only are DBC crews working the Saphos trains but ex DBC are involved with the set up, I believe. There seems to be a marshalling of different loco groups with particular operators.

60009 seems uniquely available to work with both DBC and WC, maybe 6233 when it returns too? The rest of the independently owned locos seem either be in one camp or the other as you say. Wonder how 60007 will align, I think there are strong WC/NYMR/A4LS connections though?

E-Ticket arrived. 44871 + diesel, so have phoned and moved on the 2 September trip without a fuss.
