Rail loop now a key project

    THE passing loop at Beccles Railway Station, which would allow an hourly service to London on the Ipswich to Lowestoft line, looks set to finally become a reality.

    Network Rail announced on Tuesday that the passing loop would be one of its key projects in a five-year £1bn spending programme in the Anglia region.

    The loop could be in place as early as next year, and the prospect has delighted local campaigners who welcomed the decision that comes 30 years after the idea was first mooted.
