    Pontypool & Blaenavon Railway Coal Train Weekend May 28th & 29th 2023.

    3 locomotives in use
    • Avonside 1919 'Cranford'
    • Hudswell clarke 1857
    • Hudswell D1344

They will be operating an extended timetable of both passenger services and demonstration coal trains, giving an insight into how coal was once transported out of the South Wales.

Timetable will be available in the next couple of days.

Please find version 2 of the timetable attached.

This is due to the unavailability of Furness Railway No. 20 following a mechanical failure last weekend.

1857 is shown on both the 15.46 coal train and 15;15 passenger. I'm guessing it should be 1919 on the coal train - is that correct?

Also, please can you clarify how the 13.45 passenger train is operated? Is it top-and-tail from Furnace Sidings at 13.45 through to Blaenavon High Level at 14.20, and then double-headed back to Furnace Sidings?

Sorry copy and paste error! Updated version now on my original post. So 1919 is on the 15:16 coal train and 1857 on the 15:15 passenger train.

The 13.45 will be top/tail Furnace Sidings - Big Pit - Whistle Inn - Coed Avon - Blaenavon High Level where 1857 will run round onto the front to double head the Blaenavon - Furnace Sidings return journey.

    Alex.

Big thanks to everyone for their hard work today, especially those who spent their time putting out the lineside fires!
