Perhaps it was a Flat, rather than a Puncture....

We have the tank, we have the wheels, and the tender frame is almost complete!

Where’s the Corridor connection? :) And why is this a bogie tender, most unacceptable .
    And that shade of green…:);)

A bogie tender will allow it to run in reverse at more than 45 mph. Means it doesn’t need a means of turning at its destination. One of many subtle changes made by the A1 team. I can see Tornado being so modified if this is successful. Also why there’s no corridor connection, it would be very draughty for the crew. .:);)

No, just massive door mirrors like a coach to be fitted to the cab, and a periscope to be poked out of the of the top (but only when not under OHLE) ;-)

On a serious note, this is the first beaded LNER non corridor 8-wheel tender of its type. I was interested to see that, in line with Tornado, and unlike the original no.2001 tender, (which was all welded but had a lower front and rear sheets) its dimensions on the front and rear sides more closely match the A3 and Thompson/Peppercorn tenders. You can see this by way of comparison:

Of course, being the next in class, it is perhaps unsurprising the tender would follow suit in being a development of line. Whatever, it is a nice bit of engineering regardless.

Pictures have been appearing on Facebook this week of the trust's move to their new headquarters. The only big ticket item moved so far appears to be 2007's tender tank, but I'm sure more will follow.

Absent a boiler, what work is going on with the P2 at the moment?

From our last visit, not much, its all hands on deck getting Tornado parts refurbished, and back for re-assembly.
