Talk about getting stung twice now with the event t shirts if 4079 doesn’t turn up
The diesel gala had the Deltic as a no show but the t shirts had been printed, wonder if they have done them yet?

Enough time to get a replacement loco?
There’s plenty of locos doing nothing at Carnforth!!
Or even a well known Pacific doing nothing just a few miles away

Website says they'd be posted mid september, so would imagine they may not have been printed yet... but could be close!

We have not planned to go this time, our usual hotel in Levisham was booked out months ago. Wasn't overly fussed with the appearance of 2253, better with 34028 joining, but if 4079 is a no show looks like we are not even having a day trip. Needs to be something interesting to tempt us. Fickle? No just retired and fixed income, watching the pennies.

Wow. 4079 was 80% of the draw for me.

£49.50 for one visitor is a lot of money, compared to the same price for probably 200 days of travel.

Timetable has just been uploaded to the NYMR site - looks like one of the carriage sets will be mixed and have some "heritage wagon stock" in. Also looks like the freight only runs on Sunday.

Do many people actually use the annual pass deal for 200 days?

Now that would be a real challenge to those of us who used to buy a BR SR all lines 7 days rover for £5 and then use it 24/7. In summer 1965, before diesel encroachment started, my best was just over 5,000 miles of 100% steam haulage with one.

I think at the moment the railway will just be glad to be able to muster any coaches for the gala!

That certainly isn't a castle, but they've done well to get anything, I suppose.

I believe one person has used it over 100 times. Not sure of the exact figure.
