Nickel Plate 765: a summer highlight

    This is July of this year. Nickel Plate 765 created a buzz at Train Festival 2011 pulling its first high speed trips in over a decade. Here is some great action of this 2-8-4 Berkshire running at fast speeds for the first time since 1993.

    Pardon the Diesels. Most of our Mainline steam locomotives these days have a mainline Certification that require use of at least one. This train was packed and like anyone these days We aren't taking chances with the health of our locomotives.

    I'm a fan of this engine. She is a 1944 product of the Lima Locomotive Works which I and many others consider to be the best builders and designer here in the States. The Berks as they were known are considered to be their best. 6 examples are still with us in Preservation today.
