Following completion of the drainage works, and laying of protective membrane over the new land-drains, the ballast forming the sub-base was carefully levelled in time for the delivery of our new point for the station.

This has been manufacturer by the experts at Eastleigh S&C, and the railway took the decision to take this approach as the point's safe and (hopefully) faultless operation will ensure that trains can always be signalled into Ongar without delays.

The right-handed point pictured will take trains straight into the main platform, or to the right and towards Platform 2 (formally the Milk Dock Platform), where the Thumper is currently being restored.

Over the next few weeks the rest of the Ongar throat will be delivered and connected together - any additional helpers would be very welcome, and would enable the track to be ready to run trains sooner.[IMG]
