Following severe rain overnight, A landslip occurred on the Berks & Hants just east of Pewsey. A track cleaning train ran into the land slip, derailing the leading Locomotive.

Severe flooding was experienced in the area, with many roads closed.

The land slip seemed to be caused by excessive rain, and a blocked agricultural drainage leading to a slump.

I know the area well, and am extremely surprised it happened and I could not see any way NR could have predicted this or prevented it, as cause would seem to be outside of their control.

All services on the Berks & Hants are suspended.

    Loco re-railed and train removed.

London bound services likely to start running again soon.
